“HERO IN THE MIRROR”

By Robert Thomas

Story Behind the Song

I wrote this song for my girls, who have both experienced bullying at school. I wanted to teach them to be strong for themselves, but also to lift up others around them who are also bullied or struggling with issues that ruin their self-confidence and peace. The moral of the story in this song is that we can be heroes for others, and when we look in the mirror at the end of the day, we can see a Hero looking back at us.

Gaslighter Lyrics

Verse 1

You brought me to my knees,

Believing in your dreams,

But they weren’t dreams that you dream in sleep,

They’re just the dreams of your deceit

Verse 2

You hide your truth in lies that unfold,

In tapestries of webs that stick,

To the grime in your heart that you hide inside

Chorus

You made me lose myself,

In stories no one tells

Making me believe

In what you divine, hoping that I’ll see

The demons that you hide

But you’re not a liar, you’re just a

Gaslighter

Verse 3

Your stories falter,

faster than these glass alters,

Faster than the speed of sound,

As your lies spread all around

Chorus

You made me lose myself,

In stories no one tells

Making me believe

In what you divine, hoping that I’ll see

The Demons that you hide

But you’re not a liar, you’re just a

Gaslighter

Outro

I pulled myself from your gaze,

Saw inward through your maze,

And made it through the blaze

Chorus

I almost lost myself,

In stories no one tells

But Now I disbelieve

In what you divine, hoping that I’ll see

The demons that you hide…

But you’re not a liar, you’re just a

Gaslighter

You’re just a gaslighter

Final Outro

A Gaslighter that’s on fire
